Norfolk real lives book marks action week
To mark Poverty & Homelessness Action Week 2009, from February 1 to February 8, YMCA Norfolk has published a second book of short true life stories about some of the amazing people whose lives have been touched by either working for it or using one of its many services.
Going the Extra Mile 2 includes true life stories of people like 17-year-old Danny who has slept on the steps of a cinema in King’s Lynn or 19-year-old Charlene from Norwich whose life fell apart when she lost her home, her partner and her unborn baby. YMCA Norfolk was able to help put them both back on the road to a brighter future.
The free book also includes articles about YMCA Norfolk board member Lady Kay Fisher and hostel manager Eddie Pleban.
YMCA Norfolk chief executive officer John Drake said: “This book contains a glimpse of the extraordinary work being undertaken on a daily basis by dedicated staff who give sacrificial service often at risk and without recognition, going the extra mile.”
If you would like printed copies of the Going the Extra Mile 2 book, please contact Susie Knights on 01603 620961 Ext 127 or at susieknights@ymca-norfolk.org.uk
